About this deal

One such comment was about the green decking from a HMS Hood review (I've got the 1/600 and the 1/400 in the stash). I have found a list of scale conversions for the size of rigging wires i need to use according to the original size scaled down to my model,Gulp!

I've been to flying evenings at Old Warden when they've had the Pup, Triplane, SE5a etc on display and you'd be pushed to nail the colour down. The Humbrol Color Reference is a color reference chart which includes browser matched color chips and manufacturer and FS conversions. its more of a very very subtle texture than a "weave' pattern - its just adds some life to a flat single colour surface. A green/grey combination of 'similar' shades does exist though - 145 could be tried alongside 149, 91 with 32, or 66 and 67, although this latter combination might be too dark. I'm not really a 'floaty' person, so I've only ever had a quick look through battleship reviews and can only remember snatches of comments.

Having said that, some areas of decking, particularly around the bridge may have had a layer of corticene (similar to lino) for which you would need a reddish-brown colour. The important thing to remember about mixing RAF Dark Earth based on XF-52, is that when you add Flat White to the mix, the red tones in the XF-52 tend to make the color shift to pink. Probably because I don't do a lot of Luftwaffe, I find the correct colours harder to fathom than Sabre wings and quantum mechanics.

However, with the introduction of Super Enamel some of the old colours losted in this chart have been discontinued. We have painting tips, a guide to our products, how-to video tutorials, a wall chart and a converter to take the stress out of finding your perfect colour match! fred wrote:Humbrol 116 Dark green for PC10 on all upper surfaces, perhaps Humbrol 74, or 103 for under surfaces.
