About this deal

Attach the bleed key (vent key) onto the bleed valve (air vent) at the side of the radiator. Use a cloth to catch minor drips unscrew the air vent. A diverter valve is an essential part of your heating system as it opens and closes to let hot water travel into your radiators, taps and showers. It only works in a combi-boiler – a system where your water heater and central heating boiler is in one – when water is heated ‘on demand’. During the colder months, everybody wants their home to be warm and cosy and for it to stay that way for the duration of winter. As a mechanical component, diverter valves can differ slightly in design, but it ultimately acts like a gatekeeper for water, sending the water in your heating system to where you require it at that moment. So, when you switch on a hot tap, the diverter valve will close off the central heating supply and send the water to the plate heat exchanger, which warms the water for that lovely hot tap water or deliciously warm shower.

Furthermore, it’s essential to review the settings on your timer. In case of recent power outages or seasonal time adjustments, your timer’s settings may have become inaccurate, potentially leading to the problems you’re experiencing. Could it be that your radiator valve is closed? I am in the process of having a GSHP installed, hopefully next week. As part of this change from an oil combo boiler to GSHP, the radiators had to be changed for higher out ones to give an oversize factor of 2.4 for 50C flow temperature. The likelihood that you’ll be able to do a straight swap from a horizontal radiator to a vertical one is unlikely due to the layout of the existing pipes and the differing dimensions between a vertical and horizontal radiator. However, changing any radiator should really be done by a professional plumber and it will be a fairly easy and straightforward job for them to complete. Switch your central heating off and allow it to cool down for a while – the last thing you need is a trip to A&E because you’ve scalded yourself with hot, sludge-ridden radiator water.

There are a few reasons to find air trapped in your central heating system and a lot of the time it will find its way into one of your radiators and result in a cold spot. However, I must apologise for making an incorrect statement in saying there were no baffles in the other radiators. I have re-plumbed one of the twelve column radiator, which also showed a baffle on closer inspection half way along. Re-plumbing this radiator also gives a much more even flow. This Milano 15mm inlet flow diverter is a great accessory for your new radiator as it will help to direct warm water throughout each column, ensuring an even and consistent heat across the surface of your radiator. Fitting neatly between the valve and radiator, this flow diverter is great if you are having heat distribution problems with your radiator.

As they can save space in rooms, vertical design radiators can add value to homes. They also give your home a more luxurious and modern finish elevating the interior design of your property. Martin Lewis: Do you have a Power of Attorney? It’s crucial protection – not just for the elderly – and more important than a will You can suspect a faulty diverter valve if you experience any of the following with your hot water system: No hot water

It may even be the case that you hear the air banging around your pipeworkfrom time-to-time and it can often be tough to diagnose just how it got there and why. A single radiator is a superb choice for the style and opulence a vertical model offers. If you’re after a warmer room, remember that vertical models emit more heat, without using a great amount of energy. Need help deciding? Please Note: We recommend that this flow diverter is fitted by a qualified professional to ensure safe and proper use.The flow diverter is not suitable for use with the Milano Windsor column radiators and the Skye and Aruba Ayre designer radiators. It is also not suitable for use with radiators that have an internal pipe size larger than 36mm. When it comes to installing your vertical radiator, the general rule is that it should be mounted 150mm above the skirting in the room. Your floorboards can have an influence over this, however, as it can determine where it is fitted. Vertical radiators can be more effective at heating your rooms compared to panel radiators, as they are more likely to be column radiators as they have a larger surface area, this means that they are more efficient at heating the air around the room, this will therefore have a positive effect on energy bills, also making them more environmentally friendly. The Milano 15mm flow diverter is designed to force water through each column around your radiator, which ensures an even and consistent heat across the radiator’s surface. Please Note: This flow diverter is not suitable for use with the Milano Windsor range of traditional column radiators, MIlano Skye and Aruba Ayre or with radiators that have an internal pipe size larger than 36mm.

Everybody knows that the main function of any radiator is for it to heat a space to a nice, warm and inviting temperature – but what if one or more of your radiators just refuses to heat up, what do you do then? The water inside the radiator will take the path of least resistance. The baffle inside the radiator acts as a barrier and this makes the water flow upwards.
